

Galley joined the U.S. Army on September 27, 1967, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served two overseas tours in the Panama Canal Zone and in Thailand, where he worked in Army Intelligence. After working in intelligence, he developed a keen desire to learn as much as possible about the world. He was exposed to Agent Orange while in the army, which led to heart failure, kidney failure, and many other health issues.
On June 14, 1986, Galley married Cynthia Rose Courtney in Clarksville, Indiana. Together, they built a life full of love and shared experiences.
Galley graduated from Indiana University Southeast in 1983 with a B.S. in Accounting. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2004 as a Systems Accountant. He worked several years for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms as an Inspector. He was an avid turkey and deer hunter. He was also a Master Gardener who shared his bounty with friends and neighbors.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Clova (Pigman) Collins, and his in-laws, Joseph W. and Rita Calhoun Courtney, sisters, Clara Buck (Hal) and Vella Liedecker (Don), and brother, Raymond Collins (Fern).
Galley is survived by his wife, Cynthia Rose (Courtney) Collins, his daughters, Jacquelyn Wright Singleton (Tony), four grandchildren, Andrew, Aidan, Sophie, and Cecilia, his brothers, Earl Collins (Alice), Earnest Collins (Elizabeth), and sisters, Eunice Bryant (Larry) and Phyllis Laker (Bob), many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Saint Anthony of Padua, Clarksville, Indiana, on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 am. The burial of his ashes and military honors will follow his services at Saint Mary's of New Albany Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and/or School in Clarksville, Indiana.
As you live each day, remember Galley and think of Psalm 118:24. "This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad."
