Gilbert Franklin “Gil” Ernstberger, 82, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015. Gilbert was born November 25, 1932 in Corydon, IN to the late Frank and Mildred Ernstberger. Throughout retirement, he could be found cooking and serving meals at the Jeffersonville Community Kitchen every other Thursday. Gib was a superior card player and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, and was especially proud of his home grown tomatoes. He was an active board member at Seven Springs Lake, where he spent a great deal of time fishing with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Iona Miller, Huston Ernstberger, and Annette Akers, son-in-law, Ken Turnbow, and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Ernstberger.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Agnes (Gettelfinger) Ernstberger, their six children, Rose Turnbow, Pat Ernstberger (Debbie), Cathy Stotts (Greg), Tim Ernstberger (Denise), Tom Ernstberger (Cathy), and Mary Fahey (Russ), 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the countless friends and neighbors who have been an overwhelming source of joy and support throughout the years, especially Gib's kitchen crew and his hunting and fishing buddies.
