

He was born the fourth of seven children to Ethel Harris Nichols and Guy Harold Nichols on April 27, 1939 in New Washington, Indiana.
In 1997 Harold retired after 31 years in the United States Postal Service, Louisville Ky. In retirement he enjoyed precious time guiding and watching his grandsons with their special talents, traveling the southeast states with soccer teams and roaming Indiana to marching band concerts. Harold loved being outdoors with yard and garden activities and was especially proud at age 70 of his work with good friend David in the tree service business.
Harold was preceded in death by sisters Joyce King and Alberta Tucker. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Diane Pendleton Nichols, a son, Harold Lewis Nichols Jr. (Tynia) of Jeffersonville, a daughter, Rachel Denise Hodge (Marvin) of Charlestown, two grandsons, Anthony Lewis Nichols of Atlanta and Marvin (Marty) Hodge of Charlestown and one granddaughter, Ne’Tashia Brown, two brothers, Rodger Nichols of Chicopee Massachusetts and David Nichols of Indianapolis, two sisters, Juanita Wallace and Irma Jones of New Albany, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Monday, June 7, 2021 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. A graveside service will be 2:00 pm Monday at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
