James Kenneth “Uncle Jim” Fetz, 79, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020. He was born February 7, 1941 to the late James Norman and Ruth Virginia (Lee) Fetz. Uncle Jim was born in Jeffersonville and raised in New Albany. The Fetz family members are very close with Uncle Jim being the center and the glue that held everything together. In his younger years, he attended Joseph Rauch workshop and for the past 9 years he was a client of Volunteers of America. He shared a home with Allen Walts and Tim LaDuke and was cared for by the loving staff of V.O. A. He loved many family party’s and gatherings with Uncle’s Day, Derby Day, Christmas and of course his birthday being some of his favorites. Jim loved America and was Red, White and Blue through and through. He loved the U.S. Military and everyone who wore a uniform of every branch. Jim was a collector of photos of all the U.S. Presidents and could identify each and every one in detail. He enjoyed a trip to Mt. Rushmore and trips to the Hall of Presidents at Disney World. He loved old time cars, old time baseball, baseball cards and was noted for his vast collection of hats. “Uncle” Jim never met a stranger and loved to shake hands and say “hi” to everyone he met. Every Wednesday, he enjoyed lunch with his siblings and some cousins at Daisy’s in New Albany. “Uncle Jim” will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by five Siblings; Maurice H. Fetz, Carolyn A. Ala, Louis A. “Tony” Fetz (Judy), Jinny Sklodoski (Terry) and Gary M. Fetz (Charlene); caregiver, Laurie Striegel; five nephews; six nieces; ten great-nephews; nine great-nieces; two great-great nieces and five great-great nephews and Uncle Jim’s special niece, “Little Bit” Natalie. Drive through visitation will be Wednesday, May 20, 2020, from 11:00 am until 1:30 pm at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road with private funeral service and burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
