

James Albert Kerstiens, age 81, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully in Fort Wayne, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of loyalty to family, commitment to work, and faith in God. He was born to Albert and Marie Kerstiens in New Albany, Indiana. James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Brenda Kerstiens, and his parents.
James was a dedicated and respected senior officer of loan divisions of several banks. He worked diligently to help individuals and businesses to remain operational. His determination and work ethic made a lasting impact. He was a proud family man, married to his beloved wife Brenda for 58 wonderful years. Together, they raised three children: Deaneen Pashea (husband Richard), Candace Carter (husband Kyle), and Aaron Kerstiens. His deep love for his family extended to his grandchildren: Alexander Pashea, Malana Pashea, Colin Carter, Nyla Kerstiens, and Ethan Kerstiens.
He is survived by his loving sisters, Ida Andres, Joanne Dickson, and Marie Stoner (husband Garry), as well as his brothers, Larry Kerstiens (wife Mary), Jerry Kerstiens (wife Nancy), and Richard Kerstiens (wife Shirley).
James was a man who had a passion for golfing and a commitment to his family’s well-being and education. His strength, determination, and devotion to his loved ones will remain an everlasting source of inspiration to all who knew him.
Visitation will be held in honor of James on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, located at 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana, 47150.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Starlight, 8310 St John Road, Navilleton, Indiana, 47119.
James will be deeply missed, but his memory and the lessons he imparted will live on through his family and friends.
