James "Ron" Ronald Straight

JAMES R. "RON" STRAIGHT, 77, peacefully passed away early on August 23, 2014. Ron was born as an only child in Fairmont, West Virginia on February 23, 1937. He attended grade school in West Virginia, served briefly in the Marines, and moved to Louisville with his father in the late 1950s. Ron graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Louisville, owned the Chevron gas station in Clarksville IN in the 1970s and the Marathon gas station in Jeffersonville IN in the 1980s, he then sold insurance for American National until he retired. Ron moved his family to Jeffersonville IN in 1974. Ron was a member of Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany. He is preceded in death by his father, James L. Straight; and mother, Lettie L. Straight.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Lee Straight; children, Scott Straight (Julie), Doug Straight and Holly Pace (Clayton); step-children, Mark Thompson, Cindy Robertson, Brent Thompson (Alyson) and Lindsay H. Keithley; grandchildren, Samantha, Steven and Vincent Straight; Mandy and Colton Straight; and Madison, Elizabeth, Alex and Kelly Pace.

Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 3:00 pm ~ 7:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 7:00 pm in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel. Ron’s ashes will be laid to rest at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be given in Ron’s memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 153 Thierman Lane, Louisville KY 40207.
