James R. Tribbey

JAMES R. TRIBBEY, 91, died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Lincoln Hills Health Center in New Albany. The son of the late Francis and Stella (Ricke) Tribbey, Jim was born October 7, 1922 in New Albany, Indiana. He retired from K&I Railroad after 40+ years of service and was a U. S. Navy veteran, member of VFW Post 1693, LCI Navy Association, Cardinal Ritter Council Knights of Columbus, Valley View Golf Course and Holy Family Catholic Church. Jim was an avid bowler and golfer. He was very social and loved to talk with people, listen to music, sing and dance. But most of all, he loved his family and church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mary “Sis” Endris and Martha Rhodes; and brothers, Bob, Earl and Bud Tribbey.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Lincoln Hills Health Center for the special care given to Jim for over two years.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Doris E. (Lynn) Tribbey; children, Mark Tribbey of New Albany, Carol Akers (Brad) of New Albany and Susan Thomas (Steve) of Henderson, KY; grandchildren, Brittany Akers, Adam Thomas and Bryan Akers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, IN. There will be a Rosary Service at 2 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. His Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
