Jessie Mae (Lee) Bennett, 95, received her wings on Thursday, September 12, 2019. The daughter of the late Robert Lee and Annie Pearl (Conway) Ford, Jessie was born January 18, 1924 in Birmingham, Alabama. A very devoted Christian, she was a member of Gilt Edge Baptist Church in Jeffersonville. She was a sweetheart and loved by many, even though she liked to tease everyone. Many a day you could hear her singing her favorite song, “One Day at a Time”. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Bennett; sons, Willie Joe “Butch” Bennett, James “Sonny” Lee, David Lee Bennett and Larry “Blue” Bennett; sister, Melinda Burton; and brother, Robert Conway.
Survivors include her daughters, Clarice Green (James) and Deborah Bennett; sons, Michael (Simone), Victor (Bridget), and Alex Bennett; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation 9 am ~ 11 am Thursday at Gilt Edge Baptist Church, 1713 Green Street, Jeffersonville IN with Funeral Service at 11 am and burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville
