JoAnn Hawkins

JoAnn Hawkins, 87, a resident of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on November 25, 2023. JoAnn was one of five children born to the late Knoefel Jones and Ethel McBride on April 14, 1936. JoAnn was married going on 71 years to the love of her life, the late Charles Hawkins, who passed in 2018.

JoAnn was a loving mother and grandmother and her family was the highlight of her life. She had a heart of gold and would be there for anyone in need. JoAnn and Charles were known for their dancing and often won many competitions. She loved going to the beach and was an avid shopper.

Along with her parents and husband Charles, JoAnn is preceded in death by a son, Clint Hawkins; and siblings, Jack Sutton, Mary Thomas, and Linda Harrell.

She is survived by children, Diann Mikesell, Rod Hawkins, Cindy Hackemack (Steve), and Curt Hawkins; six grandchildren, Drew Mikesell, Darron Mikesell, Kyle Hackemack, Kane Hackemack, Emily Hawkins, and Olivia Hawkins; nine great-grandchildren; Cooper, Ethan, Gleason, Kinzer, Maverick, Braxton, Dawson, Brooks, and Decker; as well as a sister, Barbara Treece (Gordon).

A visitation will be held for JoAnn on Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana.

JoAnn will be laid to rest in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
