John R. Hoeppner, 70 years of age, passed away Friday, July 2, 2021. The son of the late Ray Emmet and Mary Melissa (Ballard) Hoeppner, John was born November 14, 1950, in Louisville, KY. He was a welder and a U.S. Navy veteran and member of the Seabees. He served his country during the Vietnam War. John also played baseball for the Navy, the Gulfport Indians, and various other local leagues. He had a tremendous sense of humor and will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Hicks.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Anne (Parr) Hoeppner; son and daughter-in-law, Joshua Aaron and Sherry Ann Hoeppner; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Rebekah and Christopher James Tonini; siblings, Judy Greenwell, Ray Hoeppner, Jr., Melia Glass, and Marty Hoeppner.
Visitation will be held from 2 pm until 8 pm Thursday, July 8th, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, IN. His Funeral Service will be conducted at 11 am Friday, July 9th, at DePauw Memorial United Methodist Church, 925 Vincennes Street, New Albany, IN with burial and military honors to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany.
