Joseph Irvin Crask Jr. (83) died on April 5, 2025, surrounded by his children. He was retired from the US Post Office and graduated from St. Xavier High School. He was an avid UK and St. X fan and never missed one game or activity involving his kids. The past few years, he loved to watch his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. He coached football and basketball for many years at St. Martha and, prior to his illness, volunteered at the Schulman Center. He was the loving caregiver for his wife during her battle with Parkinson's and dementia.
Joseph was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Elizabeth, Indiana, and prior to his move to the country, was a long-time member of St. Martha. Joseph was married for 61 years to the love of his life, Victoria Teresa Crask, who predeceaded him by six months. He was the ultimate family man and made many sacrifices over the years. He was the best Dad, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa, and he was so proud of them all. He was happiest surrounded by family. He was a great athlete and loved to be outdoors, whether sitting with his dogs, chopping wood, riding his tractor, or digging ponds and flower gardens. He read history books and did word search puzzles daily to keep his mind strong. He had a great sense of humor and was witty and charming.
Joseph was predeceased in death by his wife, Victoria Teresa Crask; his son, Matthew Joseph Crask; and his parents, Irvin and Mildred Crask. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Kamber (Dave), son, Michael Crask (Teri), and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Crask. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tori Kamber Self (Alex), Zach Kamber (Rebecca), Nick Crask (Kayla), Amanda Crask Ash (Collin), Hayden Crask, and Hayley Crask, along with six great-grandchildren, Clayton Kamber, Brooks Kamber, Lawson Kamber, Anderson Self, Margot Self and Julia Self.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Story Point Middletown who took care of him and loved on him even when he wasn't so loveable! We would also like to thank his hosparus team, who cared for him before he was hospitalized. A special thanks to the nurses and aides at Norton Pavilllion, who lovingly and tenderly cared for Dad and our family.
A visitation for Joseph will be held Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 7780 Buena Vista Rd. SE, Elizabeth, Indiana, with burial to follow in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.
