Lawrence "Tex" E. Very

Lawrence "Tex" E. Very, 85, of Sellersburg, Indiana passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at his home. Tex was born in New Albany, Indiana on February 1, 1937, to the late Lawrence Elmer and Lillian Fay Very.

He was a veteran in the United States Army and was retired from The Hoosier Panel Company and Paramount Plywood. Tex was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the New Albany Elks Club and the Rotary Club; he volunteered for many years with projects at Providence High School and the alumni association where he served two terms on the school advisory council. He volunteered for over 20 years with St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities mostly on the Development Committee, three terms on the Advisory Council and received the Spirit of Hope award in 2019. For over 20 years, every other Tuesday he volunteered for the food pantry for the Center for Lay Ministries. In the last three years, he helped monthly for the Homeless Shelter Coalition, White Flag in the winter months.

Tex is survived by his wife Barbara "Bunky" Binford Very; three children, Kathy (Dave) Moyer, Mike (Katrina) Very and David (Angie) Very; six grandchildren, Courtney Arregui, Michael (Lydia) Stiehl, Lexie (Cody) Murphy, Bryce (Maria) Very, Nate Very and Christine Very; three great grandchildren, Josiah Stiehl, Titus Stiehl and Mila Murphy; a brother, Jerry (Wanda) Very; and a sister, Sheila (Keith) Winders.

Visitation will be from 2-6 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday, December 30, 2022 at St. John Paul II Church, 2253 West St. Joe Road, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172 with entombment in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
