Lucille L. Tompkins

Lucille L. Tompkins, 96 years of age, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021 in Louisville, KY. She was born July 16, 1925 in Charlotte, NC to the late Charles and Odessa Brown. Lucille was a registered nurse working at the University of Louisville Hospital as well as Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. In her later years, she took care of terminally ill patients working for Hospice. She was an accomplished poet, and has had several poems published as well as one of her poems is in the Library of Congress. Lucille was a member of Parkway Southern Baptist Church in New Albany, IN.

She is survived by her children, Joyce Ballew, Buddy Hendericks, Jonell Meade, and Lisa Salkeld, grandchildren, Lee, Brian, Marna, Dena, Michelle, London, Roger, Regina, Christy, Lance, Monica, and Jessica, great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Kelsey, Ria, Jack, Brandon, Caleb, Sean, Meagan, Kayla, Jacob, Trinity, Damien, Joseph, Samuel, Liam, Isaiah, and Larena and a great-great-grandson, Weston.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and after 9:00 am on Friday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany. Her Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm Friday in the Kraft Funeral Service Chapel with entombment to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
