

Madelyn M. Byrn, 88 years of age passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at her home in New Albany, IN. She was born October 2, 1927 in Delray Beach, FL to the late Lester and Margaret (Douglas) LaDuke. She was a 1945 graduate of New Salisbury High School where she was an excellent student and a cheerleader for the Tigers, she then graduated from the Louisville Beauty College, and retired as a self-employed cosmetologist after over 60 years. She was a Methodist by Faith, a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, and devoted her life and energy to family, loving her nephews, nieces and their children as they were her own.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to her kind, thoughtful neighbor George Riggle, Bunky Very (a special friend, an angel) who found the following caregivers with the hearts of gold; Hilda Watson, Lillian Jenkins, and Carole Sanborn, also a salute to the amazing services of the Hosparus staff.
Madelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Paula, a brother Bob LaDuke, and a nephew Mark Brown.
She is survived by one sister Mary Ann Brown, Columbia, TN, one brother Jim LaDuke, Corydon, IN, nephews Jamie LaDuke, Gary LaDuke, Terry LaDuke, Timmy LaDuke, and Bo Brown; nieces Ellie Avery and Joann Brown; 5 great nephews, 2 great nieces, and 1 great-great niece, also her Irish Setter “Romeo”.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home chapel with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
