
Newton F. Moncrief, 99, died Monday, July 29, 2013. He was born December 21, 1913 in Waco, Texas to his late parents, Newton F. and Magdalena Sparks Moncrief. He is also preceded in death by his wife of almost 65 years, Rita Richards Moncrief, his twin sister, Margaret, and his three older sisters. He served his country in the United States Air Force during WWII, spending 3.5 years as an instructor at Buckley Field in Denver, Colorado. He was hired by Dr. Pepper as a sales representative and went on to work for Butternut and then Delmonico for 25 years until opening his own food brokerage company which he operated for 15 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany and was a sports enthusiast, especially golf, card playing, and the racetrack. He was a kind, gentle, and proud man who loved people and enjoyed socializing and always had a story to tell. Most importantly, he was a loving and caring father and husband.

Several special nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, Indiana with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
