Oscar Sprigler

He was born March 23, 1925 in Floyds Knobs to the late Joseph and Margaret Sprigler. Oscar was the co-owner of Sprigler Brothers Construction and was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II where he received special commendation for shooting down an enemy aircraft.

He was a retired director of PNC Bank, a founding member of Floyds Knobs Water Company, a former special deputy of the Floyd County Sherriff Department, life member of Elks Lodge in New Albany, member of VFW Post #1693 in New Albany, a Kentucky Colonel, and devoted member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. He was known for his million-dollar smile and blessed with the ability to make people laugh. He was a loving and generous person who lived a full life and will be missed by all who knew him.

Along with his parents, Oscar was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe, Louis "Tip" and Charles "Hump"; and sisters, Louise Kruer and Mary Gaston.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Genny Book Sprigler ; children and their spouses, Bill and Elaine Sprigler, Norma and Bill Reutman, Linda and Rick Morgan and Mary Ann and Doug Harritt; brother and spouse, Robert "Pete" and Betty Sprigler; sisters, Minnie Larson, Ann Eckert and Jane Naville; sister-in-law, Jennie Sprigler; grandchildren, Andrea Hooper (Brian), Erin Sillings (Jason), Justin Leidolf (Emily), Jena Leidolf, Brandon Morgan (Tricia) Wes Morgan (Bambi), Ben Harritt, and Hunter Harritt; and great-grandchildren, Clare Hooper, Nicholas Hooper, Graham Sillings, Mckenna Rinehart and Kade Oscar Morgan .

Visitation will be from noon-8 p.m. Wednesday with prayers and memories at 4 p.m. at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany, and 9-11a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Knobs Church. His funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Knobs Church with burial and military honors to follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Mary of the Knobs Campus Building Fund.
