I wish i had gotten a chance to get to know this fine woman. Her brother Richard Humphrey is my Grand Father. I am his oldest daughter, Francene, youngest child, Tracy Clark of Shepherdsville, Ky. I wish i had a better way to reach out to those i have not gotten a chance to meet yet. Trillis Humphrey, Richard’s wife, passed away July 1, 2022 in Tampa Florida. She was cared for by her middle daughter Terri Humphrey.  For those of you who didnt hear im sorry you had to get this message from me. I would love to get to know this side of my family more. If anyone is interested feel free to reach out to me. I will be doing my own research from here to find you and hopefully start a new connection and keep the family close.

My mother encouraged my loves of reading and learning when I was small.  She also gave me direction in applying myself at school, explaining that it would open doors of opportunity to me that I could scarcely imagine.  She was so right on that account, and those lessons have had a tremendous impact on my life.  I am forever indebted to her for this.

We always had a piano in the house when I was small, and my mother played it, so we always had music in our home.  As her children reached the requisite age, each of us was given piano lessons by her own childhood teacher.  Music has played a central role in my life ever since, and I can scarcely imagine life without it.  I am forever indebted to her for this, too.

Mom took up an interest in ballroom dancing in her middle adulthood.  I was a college student at the time, and she evidently decided that her under-socialized son needed an intervention to ameliorate that condition, so she invited me along.  I enjoyed the dance lessons, but I had little time to put them to use until later in my adult years.  Now dancing brings me joy, introduces me to new people, and makes me new friends almost weekly.  I am forever indebted to my mother for this, as well.

All these pursuits have influenced my life greatly in what I do.  But the most important gift that my mother gave me, and that influenced so deeply who I am, was her unconditional love.  Unconditional does not mean uncritical or unthinking; if I did something that she felt was ill-advised, foolish, or wrong, she would let me know.  But she made it clear that making a bad decision did not make me a bad person.  Mistakes would be made, and there would always be room for redemption.  That love gave me the courage and confidence to attempt big things, as well as the determination and fortitude to weather my inevitable failures.

For all the rest of my days, I will be grateful for my mother’s love and guidance, and I will miss her presence in my life.

I have too many memories to condense in this tribute. The highlights would take more characters than allowed. Most important to me is the time and effort mom put into everyday things. These memories will remain with me until time for us to meet again. She loved working in the yard from planting or trimming rose's to cutting the grass. Always very proud and particular about her yard which carried over into my life today. Inside her homes she used the same mindset. Always organized with special things in their special place. She was very proud of her surroundings and made the best with what she had.
Another very special trait was her ability in loving and caring for anyone. At one point In our family life she took in her niece Barbara from my dad's sister. My aunt had passed away which brought Barb to our home. Mom treated and loved her as a daughter with no questions asked. Got her through her teen years and high school before Barbara left for a life on her own. She also took in a high school friend of mine for almost a year. Paul was having family troubles of his own and at 15 was asked to leave. My mom took him in during the winter of 1976. He was treated as all of us kids were. Pleased when he helped out and critical when misbehaving.  Paul did make it to pay respects and we are still in contact to this day. He told me she was mom number two. I am sure there are more people than I can count who would make the same statement.
She seemed to share the same love and understanding if you were family or stranger. Manners and doing the right things were most important. If you filled those small requirements, as Paul stated, you had mom number two.
Before 24 hour care mom would spend 6 to 8 weeks with myself and my wife then stay with Teresa for the same time. I know she felt she was intruding but we really had time to share our everyday day life since adulthood. It became a wonderful time to share hopes and dreams. Rest well mom you deserve it



One of My favorite memories of Pat is of the day my first child Jennifer was born. My nephew Scott was born the same day at a different hospital. The hospitals were in different parts of town and Teresa and My labors were not going as smoothly as we had hoped. So Pat spent the whole day going back and forth from one hospital to the other, because she didn't want to miss either of the births of her first 2 grandchildren, and she was there for both of them. She loved her Children and Grandchildren very much.

I will always remember MauMau’s beautiful smile. She had one of the kindest hearts I’ve ever known. Her love was unconditional.

I have so many memories of my Mom.  Once dementia/Alzheimer's started clouding her memory, we spent so much time together.  I loved caring for my Mom and visiting her many times each week.  Sometimes she was funny and had some funny comments; sometimes she was scared or agitated and we would sit and hold hands until it would pass or she would fall asleep.   I felt that her care, appearance, and comfort was my responsibility.  I wanted her to feel safe, look good, be clean, be fed, and know that she was loved.  I won't ever regret all the time and energy put into caring for her.  I love the folks at Guerin Woods and will be forever grateful for their loving care of her.  I actually miss both my Moms; the one that raised me and loved on her grandkids, and the one whose memory was slipping each day over these past five years.  Rest in peace, Mom. 


It was such a honor to have taken care of Pat the last year and a half. I have so many funny memories that I will forever cherish. I will never forget her smile. I love ya Patty Cake!!!❤❤🙏🙏
