Patricia Craig Schmitt

PATRICIA CRAIG SCHMITT, 87 years of age, died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at The Villages at Historic Silvercrest in New Albany, Indiana. She was born April 23, 1929 in New Albany to the late Stuart and Myra Genung Craig. She graduated from New Albany High School and attended Purdue University, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and Alpha Lambda Delta honorary society. Along with her husband, Charles H. Schmitt, Jr., she co-owned the Schmitt Furniture Company with the Schmitt family until retiring in 1991. She was a long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. "Junie" Schmitt, Jr., son, John Michael Schmitt, and brother, Donald G. Craig.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Joyce Schmitt, Mary Jeanne Huber (Gerald), and Elizabeth Lenfert; twenty nieces and nephews; thirty great nieces and nephews; and twenty-two great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, New Albany.
