Portia Marie McRae

Portia Marie McRae, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on November 26, 1949, in Indiana. She left us on June 9, 2025, at the age of 75, after a courageous battle with cancer. Portia's life was one of resilience, warmth, and humor, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Portia was the cherished daughter of Clarence William Fouts and Virginia Rose Fouts. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents and grandmother, Emily Ethel Fouts, who she has now joyfully reunited with in eternal peace. Portia is survived by her loving daughter, Kimberly (Chris) Dixon, and her adoring granddaughter, Cassidy Brooks, both of whom she adored and inspired daily with her bold spirit and sassy humor.

Throughout her life, Portia was a dedicated Property Manager, a role that allowed her to connect with many people and create lasting relationships in her community. Her career was marked by her unwavering commitment, and her colleagues and tenants admired her for her caring nature and ability to solve any problem with grace and wit.

In her personal life, Portia was passionate about reading and often found solace in the pages of a good book. She loved spending quality time with her family and cherished every moment with her beloved pets, who brought her immense joy and companionship. Portia was a devoted advocate for animals and saved many throughout her life.

Those who knew Portia would describe her as bold, sassy, funny, and caring—traits that endeared her to many. Her family and friends will forever remember her infectious laughter and her sass, which touched the lives of everyone around her.

In her final days, Portia received remarkable care from the compassionate nurses and aides of 4 East and 4 West. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to each of them, acknowledging that in a dark time, they were a bright light for Portia and her loved ones. While they wish they had met in different circumstances, the bonds formed during this journey will always be cherished, and each caregiver will forever remain part of the family.

A private celebration of life will be held to honor Portia's life, celebrating her legacy of love, laughter, and compassion. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
