She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ward, parents, Martha S. and Maurice O. Burns, aunts Barbara Mattingly and Judy Mattingly, Uncle Ralph “Sonny” Mattingly and brother-in-law, Gregg Nesser.
Rebecca married Robert Ward in 1984. She owned and operated a day care for several years. Following that, she worked at French Lick Casino as a dealer.
She is survived by her daughter, Mauri (Thomas) Cox, step daughters, Melissa Ward, Stephanie Ward, Heather Ward. She is also survived by her sisters, Vicki (David) Cox, Denise Burns, grandchildren, Madison (Connor Horn) Cox, Thomas E. Cox, a niece, Jessica (Joe) Schigur, a nephew, David Cox and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been entrusted to Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
