Richard Larry Neilson, age 76, quietly left this earth on February 2, 2023. Richard was born in Joplin, Missouri and moved to Houston, Texas in the summer of 1961. His father, Robert L. Neilson passed away in March of 1961, so the family decided to move to Texas with the help of his grandfather, Paul R. Neilson. At Aldine Junior High School (Houston, Texas) where he was given his lifelong nickname of "Frog." Throughout his school days, there were friends that never knew his real name. Richard was known for his deep and "froglike" voice. He graduated from Aldine High School in 1965 and immediately went to work for Bowel Oil Tools in Houston. While the company named changed at least three times (National Oil Well & Varco), he only worked for one company until the day he retired. He always worked in the machine shop there and for many years he was the foreman or supervisor. Richard was an avid fisherman for many years and one day he just decided that his fishing days we over. His attention quickly turned to becoming a collector of sports cards- football, basketball and baseball. He amassed one of the largest collections of just about any person and spent a great deal of time buying and even selling his cards. He is survived by his wife, Judy Neilson; a daughter, Gina Neilson; a sister, Sandra "Susie" Burdick of Douglass, Texas; a stepsister, Sally Cockrell of Houston, Texas; a brother, Paul E. Neilson of New Braunfels, Texas; and stepsons, Chris, Scott and James Nix along with their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
