

Rosetta E. (Hess) Smith, 92 years of age died peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. She was born September 19, 1921 in Lanesville, Indiana to the late Albert and Theresia (Geswein) Hess. She enjoyed raising her family on the farm on Borden Road. Rosetta was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Navilleton Catholic Church and more recently a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany where she cherished her many parish friends and especially her friends on Trinity Run Court and Ellen Court.
Survivors include her sons; Jim Smith and his wife Mary Ann of New Albany, Dick Smith and his wife Linda of Borden, Juder Smith and his wife Jean of Greenville, Jerry Smith and his wife Elaine of Floyds Knobs; daughters, Phyllis Andres and her husband Ron of Sellersburg, Darlene Schy and her husband Martin of Sellersburg, Karen Thomas and her husband Tim of Indianapolis, and Denise Bomersbach and her husband Brad of Georgetown; sisters, Irene Naville and her husband Bob, Marcella Naville and her husband Herman; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Rosetta was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Julius W. Smith; brothers, Francis, Wilbur, Albert, and Melvin Hess; sisters, Lula Mae Kochert and Marie Smith; grandson, Rick Smith; great granddaughter, Krista Ann Smith.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am ~ 8:00 pm Monday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana with a Rosary Service at 11:00 am Monday. Her funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Navilleton Catholic Cemetery.
The family requests expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
