He made his home in New Albany, Indiana and lived in Ft. Lauderdale in the winters for many years. Russ was a member of the Masons- DePauw Lodge, Elks Club, and American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth; and stepfather, Gilbert Lasley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Norma Jean "Lashley" King; sons, Gene Owen King and Michael King; stepdaughter, Lisa Sowders; a grandson, Blake Harbert; and a niece, Susie.
Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, located at 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana, 47150, on November 24, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm and from 10:00 am till 11:00 am on November 25, 2025.
The funeral service will take place at the same location on November 25, 2025, starting at 11:00 am.
