

Shirley Ann (Turner) Elsler, age 83, of Corydon, Indiana, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Indian Creek Healthcare Center. Shirley was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on June 13, 1942, to the late Arthur Robert Turner and Francis Breuderle Bolton. Shirley was a proud homemaker and a devoted wife to her late husband, John "Marvin" Elsler Jr. She was the fifth of eleven children.
She was preceded by both of her parents, her loving husband of 52 years, John "Marvin" Elsler Jr, her oldest son, John M. Elsler III, her siblings Rosalyn Crabtree, Robert (Bobby) Turner, Margaret Curry, William (Billy) Bolton, Francis Sutton, Paul Turner and her youngest granddaughter, Jodi Elsler.
Nana, as many called her, was a bright and happy soul. She could light up the room with her smile and kindness to all. Her goal was to make someone laugh or smile every day. She did not know a stranger. The best thing about her life was having four granddaughters after just two sons. Her hobbies were playing bingo, watching game shows, cards, birdwatching, reading romance novels, family time, listening to music, and experiencing new things.
There will be many in sorrow from her passing. She's leaving behind her companion of 13 years, Leo Book and her son, Curtis. Also, her siblings, Ronald, Milton, Sharon, Brenda, and Roberta. Her daughter in laws, Gloria East (John) and Linda Elsler (Curtis). She will be missed the most by her granddaughters, Nicole Ridenour (James) , Stephanie Gronda (Derek) and Adrien Keehner (Michael), and great grandchildren, Trae, Terence "TJ", Ashlyn, Brantley, Rudelle "Rudi", and Holden. She also has many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Her Funeral Service will be held at Kraft Funeral Service at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025. The inurnment of her ashes will be held in a private ceremony at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky, where she will be reunited with her loving husband, John "Marvin" Elsler Jr.
