

Thomas D. McCartin, 76, died peacefully Friday, March 28, 2014 at Floyd Memorial Hospital after a brave year-long battle with cancer. He received excellent and compassionate care from Dr. Michael Kommor and the entire CBC group at Baptist East. He was born July 10, 1937 in Sellersburg, Indiana to the late Fred and Lorena (Glanville) McCartin. He was a member of Our Lady of Providence High School’s founding class of 1955. He completed his Associate Degree at IUS and obtained his real estate license. He worked as owner and president of Tri-Mac Business Forms up until his death. He was a 42 year member of St John’s the Baptist Catholic Church and founded their Independence Day parade. He was devoted his entire life to his family and faith. He was an avid golfer and euchre player amongst friends. He was a lifetime member of Cardinal Ritter Council 1221 Knights of Columbus, having earned his 4th Degree, serving as Faithful Navigator, and helped to found the St. John’s Council, serving as Grand Knight. He served his country as a U.S. Marine, and was a member of the Marine Corps League and the Floyds Knobs American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Fred McCartin, James McCartin, and Don McCartin and his sister, Shirley Mull.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Rose Marie “Rosie” (Grantz) McCartin; daughter, Stacy (Chad) McCauley; grandsons, William Thomas McCauley, Samuel James McCauley; brothers, David (Brenda) McCartin, Ronnie (Pam) McCartin; sister, Bonnie (Jerry) Smith
And numerous nieces and nephews
Visitation will be 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 8310 St. John Rd., Floyds Knobs, Indiana with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
