William E. "Bill" Roberts

William E. "Bill" Roberts, 85 years of age, died Monday January 15, 2018 surrounded by his loving children in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born September 21, 1932 in Major, Kentucky located in Owsley County to the late Ernest Miller and Emma Lucy (Allen) Roberts. Bill was a retired engineer after 37 years with L & N Railroad and a United States Navy veteran serving four years during the Korean War. He grew up in Irvine, Kentucky and was quite an athlete during his high school years. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Leslie Kaye Roberts, and former wife and mother of the children Carolyn Sue (Wolfinbarger) Roberts. Bill was also preceded by four siblings, Georgeann, Morgan, Ronald, and Phillip "Sonny" Roberts.

Survivors include 5 children, Kathy Roberts (Kathi), Eric Roberts (Marilyn), Rebecca Plentl (Bob), Edie Schneider (Tony), Jennifer Roberts; 15 grandchildren, Cody (Abby), Dakota (Haley), McKenna, Luke, Noah, Savannah, Jake, Morgan, Brett (Faith), Sidney (Jon), Eric, Holly, Heather, Dylan (Katherine), Emma; 3 great grandchildren, Ava, Chloe and Eli; 2 sisters, Lillian Oaks, Miamisburg, Ohio, Edith Bateman (Wayne), Dallas, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Saturday, January 20, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany. His funeral service will be 12:00 pm Saturday, January 20, in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel concluding with Military Honors. Private burial will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
