

William A. "Bill" Roach, 93 years of age, died Sunday at Lincoln Hills Care Center where he resided. He was born January 11, 1923 in English, Indiana to the late Harry and Irene (Dooley) Roach. Bill was retired from the Fruit Growers Express Company after many years and was a former member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. He served proudly in the U.S. Army during W.W. II as Private First Class with the 34th Field Hospital and was a Medical Technician at field hospital in the European theater where he administered care and treated wounds. He served in both Africa and Italy during the war and was a former member of the Floyd County V.F.W. Post #3281 in New Albany. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Hazel who died in 2008, son William Shannon Roach, and Siblings George, Bob, Ruth and Pauline. Survivors include: Daughter Lyn Kendall (Ben), Daughter-in-law Donna Roach. Grandchildren; Rita Riggs(Pat), Glenda Bruce (Derrick), Troy Roach (Susie), Shannon Roach (Sue), Brit VanLaeken and Chris Kendall. Also several greatgrandchildren, a sister Norma Jean and sister in-laws; Lavern, Carol, Shirley, several nieces, nephews and many good friends. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday December 6th, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service with Full Military Honors will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday at the Kraft Charlestown Rd. Chapel. Private burial will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
