William R. Schmidt

William Ray “Pop” Schmidt, 77 years of age passed away on June 30, 2020. He was born on November 6, 1942 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Pete and Anna Schmidt. Bill was a member of the Indiana National Guard and retired from Pillsbury in New Albany after 40 years of service. His greatest joy was time spent with his kids and grandsons, he was a great Dad and Pop. He also enjoyed his garden and flowers, maintaining his home and working in his barn/shop. Bill spent over 30 years collecting, and dealing in antiques, and made many great friends on this journey and acquired a unique, beautiful collection. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Lincks Schmidt. He is survived by his children, Kevin Schmidt, Jill Schmidt, Brent Schmidt; grandchildren, Luke, Bryce, Blake; siblings, Martha Lee “Sis” (Vincent) Stumler, Alfred (Hilda) Schmidt, Jim (Janet) Schmidt, Rosella Bickel, Pete (Linda) Schmidt, Marvin (Lisa) Schmidt; and many friends and family. A reception of family and friends will be 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm Sunday, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. A Memorial Service will begin at 5:00 pm Sunday in the funeral chapel. The family requests expressions of sympathy to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
