She was the wife of the late Henry J. "Hank" Klein, who died in 2011. Mrs. Klein was a retired teacher and principal. She pioneered Instructional Television, and did the first telecast ever done in Kentucky in 1957. She served as an on-camera television teacher with Channel 15 in Louisville for eighteen years. She also served as adjunct professor of Education at both the University of Kentucky, her alma mater, and Indiana University Southeast.
Mrs. Klein was a native of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Rev. William and Chloe (Miller) Howard. She was a graduate of Tompkinsville High School.
Mrs. Klein made donations to the University of Kentucky, Western Kentucky University, and Ivy Tech Community College in Sellersburg, Indiana, for the creation of memory rooms honoring her late husband, Hank, her parents, Rev. and Mrs. Howard, and her husband's parents, Henry and Elizabeth Klein. The rooms are furnished with family pieces. In addition, Hank and Wilma created scholarships to honor their parents at these respective schools and the Prosser School of Technology in New Albany. These scholarships will go on in perpetuity.
Mrs. Klein loved music and travel but most of all, enjoyed time with family and friends. She is survived by several cousins and friends, Kevin Harned, Greg and Patty Henderzahs, and Tom and Linda Traylor, who all cared for her.
