Born in Azores Portugal, Mr. Cardoso migrated to New Bedford. He was the son of the late Manuel and Luzia (Condito) Cardoso.
Abilio was a self-employed construction worker. He served in the Portuguese Army in Angola. He was a member of the Centro Luzo Club and a player and director of the Maritimo Soccer League from Angra Do Heroismo, Azores.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children Cliff Cardoso of Somerset, Chantel Cardoso of New Bedford, Ana Bouchard of Swansea, his brother; John Silva of Salem, NH and 3 brothers and 1 sister in Portugal, 2 grandchildren; Kailen Cardoso, Emma Bouchard and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Monday, January 23, 2012 at 8 am at ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford followed by a funeral mass at 9 am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford. Visiting hours are Sunday from 5-8 pm. Burial at Pine Grove Cemetery.
