

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Joseph and Blanche (Rousseau) Guy, he was a lifelong resident of the city. He attended St. Anthony School and served as an altar boy and longtime communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Mr. Guy served in the United States Army National Guard for a total of 38 years, from 1953 to 1991. He was activated in 1968-69 during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1991 as a 1st Sgt. (E8). He was assigned to “A” Battery, 16th Artillery, 155MM Self Propelled Howitzers, as the Chief of the Firing Battery.
He had worked at the Acushnet Company as a millworker for 38 years until his retirement.
Albert was a fan of New England sports teams including the Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots. He enjoyed making puzzles and watching his grandchildren play sports.
He is survived by his children, Phyllis Bilodeau and husband Joseph of St. Peters, MO, David Guy and wife Fatima of Spring Hill, FL, Dennis Guy of New Bedford and Carol Chace and husband Chuck of Wanchese, NC; a brother, Paul Guy of New Bedford; eight grandchildren, Christopher Bilodeau, Jeffrey Bilodeau and wife Dusti, Melissa Knight and husband Casey, Jennifer Guy, Ashley Guy, Zachary Guy and partner Sally, Sarah Amaral and husband Tim and Stephanie Nehemias and husband Luke, Weymouth; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Raoul Guy.
His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 9am from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-7pm.
