Alice S. Costa

Born in New Bedford, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Pacheco Soares and Maria (Furtado) Soares.

She was a graduate of New Bedford High School.

Mrs. Costa was the bookkeeper for her husband’s Fixed Base Operator Business while on Nantucket and Fall River. They retired to Ocala, Florida for 17 years, before moving back to Massachusetts, settling in New Bedford.

Family meant the world to Alice, as she cherished the company of her siblings throughout the years. She loved music, attending concerts and dancing.

Her family includes four sons, Leslie F. Costa, Jr. and his late wife, Bettine of Barrington, RI, Alan Costa and his wife Kathy of Nantucket, Douglas Costa and his wife Patricia of Groton, CT and Joseph Costa and his girlfriend Lori of North Dartmouth; a sister, Izaura Pimentel of North Dartmouth; four grandchildren, Jared, Justin and Johanna Costa and Keri Manix; three great-grandchildren, Matthew and Lily Manix and Landon Costa; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Gilbert, Joseph and Edward Soares, Linda Oliveira, Mary Pimentel and Dorothy Pragana.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 5-8pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10am in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Burial is private.
