Anna C. Baker

A lifelong New Bedford resident, Mrs. Baker was the daughter of the late William and Ellen (Conway) Yates.

Anna was a graduate of Holy Family High School Class of 1936 and Greater New Bedford Vocational High School Class of 1938. She worked at S.S. Kresgee’s, John I Pauling, and as a Certified Nurses Aide at the Sassaquin Nursing Home and as a visiting Home Health Aide before her retirement.

She is survived by a son, William F. Baker of New Bedford; 5 daughters Virginia A. Dawson of East Freetown, Susan P. Whitehead of Acushnet, Peggy DePasquale and her husband Raymond of Toano, VA, Rosemary Smith and her husband David of Rochester, Teri Wysor of Ashland, MA and daughter-in-law Joanne Baker. Anna had 19 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Stephen Baker and the sister of the late Stephen A. Yates and the late Helen M. Pedro. She was the grandmother of the late Anna R. Rivera and the mother- in- law of the late Lowell Dawson.

Her funeral mass will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 9am at St Mary Church , 343 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited to go directly to church. Visiting hours will be on Monday, May 14, 2012 from 4-7pm. Burial at Pine Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA.
