Arminda Fatima Alves

Arminda Fatima Alves, a cherished resident of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on January 8, 2026, at the age of 56 following a long courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 11, 1969, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she moved to the United States at the age of 17. She was predeceased by her parents, Manuel and Maria (Pacheco) Borges.

Arminda, affectionately known as Mindy, was married to Timothy D. Alves for 25 wonderful years. She is survived by her sons, Bryan Coulombe and his wife Vanessa, and Timothy Alves, Jr. and his fiancée Hailee Roderiques. She was a devoted grandmother to Rome Alves and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of another grandchild. Mindy is also survived by her siblings, Armindo Borges and his wife Merces, Antonio Borges and his wife Rosa, Dinis Borges and his girlfriend MaryLou, Luisa Borges, Francisco Borges and his wife Maria, Daniel Borges and his wife Ilda, and Jose Borges and his wife Marcia. Her family included numerous nieces and nephews.

Mindy worked for Morgan Alberox in the Industrial Park as a production lead, where she was known for her dedication and hard work. Her family was the center of her life, her two boys and grandson bringing her the greatest joy and happiness. She enjoyed shopping, dancing, spending time at the beach, and going for walks.

Visiting hours will be held at Rock Funeral Home, located at 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Her Funeral will begin on Friday, January 16, 2025 at 9:00 am at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd, New Bedford, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, 1100 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford.
