Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Joao and Maria (Do Rosario) Correia, he was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Correia was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean War.
He had a successful career as a juvenile detective for the New Bedford Police Department for over 20 years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Police Association of New Bedford and enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Correia and Jo Ann Cantwell both of FL and Tammy Hession of Dartmouth; his former wife, Pauline L. Correia of New Bedford; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 4-7pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial will be private.
