Barbara M. Lewis

She was the beloved wife of Roland G. Lewis, affectionately known as “Humphrey,” with whom she shared 49 years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and unwavering partnership.

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Romeo St. Amand and Loretta (Daniel) St. Amand. Barbara carried strong family values throughout her life. She was a proud graduate of Holy Family High School, Class of 1958.

A woman of deep faith, Barbara was a devoted member of St. Joseph-St. Therese Parish, and she generously served as Eucharistic Minister for many years at St. Kilian’s parish in New Bedford, MA. Her faith was a guiding light in her life and something she shared through quiet acts of kindness and service.

She dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked as a bookkeeper at McGee’s for many years before choosing to devote herself fully to her home and family, a role she cherished most. Being a wife, mother, and “Grammy” brought her the greatest joy, and she poured her heart into those she loved.

She will be remembered for her warm spirit, her love of cooking traditional French-Canadian meals, and the way she brought people together around her table. Barbara also had a sweet spot for life’s simple pleasures and NEVER turned down an ice cream sundae.

Survivors include her two daughters, Pamela Lewis-Varon and her husband Michael of New York, Sheri Tuberosa and her husband Richard of Kingston; one grandson Jacob Varon; a sister Beverly Peirce of Fairhaven; two nephews Bryan Peirce and David Peirce; and a god daughter Martha Neal. She is predeceased by her late brother Daniel St. Amand.

Her visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford, MA with a Funeral Service beginning at 12:00PM. Burial to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
