Charles J. Holland, Jr.

Charles J. Holland, Jr., age 91, formerly of North Dartmouth, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence, RI. He was the husband of the late Jeannette H. (Augustyn) Holland.

Born in Fall River, the son of the late Charles J. Holland, Sr. and Katherine S. (O’Loughlin) Holland, he resided in North Dartmouth most of his life, until recently moving to Coventry, RI.

Charles was a graduate of Dartmouth High School Class of 1939. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and worked as a metal inspector for Revere Copper and Brass until his retirement. He was a member of the New Bedford Widows Group.

Survivors include his 2 daughters, Mary Ann Laprise and her husband Robert of Coventry, RI; Patricia A. Pelton of North Kingstown, RI; his daughter-in-law, Susan M. Holland of Berkley; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer J. Holland (friend Anthony Rapoza) of Taunton; Jedediah J. Holland of Berkley; David R. Laprise (wife Jessica) of Sterling, CT; Nicole K. Laprise of Belmont, MA; Katherine E. and Erin M. Pelton of Coventry; his brother, Robert D. Holland of Middleboro and his sister, Catherine C. Cameron of Naples, ME; a dear family friend, Elaine Marshall of Fairhaven and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the father of the late John C. Holland and brother of the late Pauline M. Cavanaugh, Barbara M. Kosinski, and Francis A. Holland.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 9 AM from the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 235 North Front St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visiting hours, Monday, 5-8 PM.
