

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Maurice Favreau and Lena (Comeau) Deneault she was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Caya worked as a Quality Control Engineer for Acushnet Company for over 40 years and retired in 2013. She was an active volunteer at the Dartmouth Council on Aging and the Black Goose. She enjoyed chair yoga at Planet Fitness. Claire was an avid reader and known as a walking encyclopedia. She also enjoyed going on day trips.
The family would like to thank Dr. Elliot Anderson and the oncology staff at Hawthorne Medical Center for Claire’s treatment and care.
She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl McCra of New Bedford; a “second daughter” to whom the family will be eternally grateful for, Rachel Gonsalves. Rachel was a tremendous help during Claire’s illness; a brother, Paul Favreau and his longtime companion, Connie of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Renah Cardona of New Bedford, Brendan Cardona of New Bedford, Alicia Amaral and her husband Craig of New Bedford, and Tony Coelho of New Bedford; four great grandchildren, Matthew, twins Zachary and Gabriella, and Olivia Rose; her beloved cat, Percy; a step daughter, Cheryl Costa, her husband David; step grandchildren, Harold, Caya and his wife Irene, Samantha Banville and her husband Nate, Sabrina Costa, and Devlin Costa; step great grandchildren, Aidan, Rebecca, and Zach; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her funeral will be Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 9 a.m. from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford.
