

Colette J. ( Lemire) Madeiros, 67, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 8, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of 46 years to Donald C. Madeiros.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Adrien and Doris (Leduc) Lemire, she was a lifelong resident of the city and a member of the first graduating class of Bishop Stang High School in 1964. Colette’s career began as a receptionist for Dr. Paul Chervinsky. She later ran a home based daycare for approximately 20 years, launched St. Mary’s School Extended Daycare program, and most recently was employed as a receptionist at Sharp Styles Hair Salon in New Bedford until her illness.
Colette was a communicant of St. Joseph- St. Therese Parish. She was a former member and President of the St. Mary’s Women’s Guild and an active member of the New Bedford Senior Travel group. Above all else, she was most passionate about her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband are their five children: daughters Marcie F. Letendre and her husband Ernest, Janele T. Goldman and her husband David, and Keira L. Marcelino and her husband Felipe all of New Bedford, two sons Craig A. Madeiros and his wife Kim of Winter Garden, FL and Leith P. Madeiros and his wife Zeina of Somerset; eleven grandchildren Brittany, Zachary and Andrew Letendre, Spencer, Noah, Emmett, Laura and Alex Madeiros, Tara Goldman, Ryan and Nathan Marcelino; and several cousins.
Colette’s funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 10AM at St. Joseph- St. Therese Church, 51 Duncan Street, New Bedford. Her family will receive guests prior to the mass in church from 8am-10am.
