

Donald W. White, 84, of Acushnet, passed away surrounded by his loving family and caregivers Monday, April 13, 2015 at home following a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Robinson) White with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Born in Acushnet and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Raymond A. and Erma (Morse) White.
In his earlier years, Mr. White worked along side his father and brothers at the family business, White’s Farm Dairy in Acushnet. In 1962, he founded DW White Construction with his twin brother, Walter. He was a former member of the Lions Club in Acushnet, Conservation Board of Acushnet, New Bedford Country Club and the Addieville Rod & Gun Club in Smithfield, RI. Mr. White enjoyed hunting with his dogs and took many trips with friends to England to participate in organized pheasant drives. He also enjoyed boating, fishing and golfing. He loved to laugh and enjoyed playing pranks on friends and family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Donna Courtemanche and her husband David of Mattapoisett, Lynne Viens and her husband John of Acushnet and Gayla White and her fiancé Roger Duarte of Berkley; one son, Gary White and his wife Jocelyn of Mattapoisett; two sisters, June Clay of Westwood and Nancy Fanning of Ormond Beach, FL; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Dube, William White, Ross Acucena, Kurt Acucena, Justin Stark, Neil Stark, Ashley Fullen, and Luke Edward; 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Raymond A. White, Jr., Walter D. White, David R. White and James R. White.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 10am in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 3-7pm.
