Doris Richard

Doris (Clermont) Richard, age 89, formerly of New Bedford, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Brookdale Dartmouth Village. She was the wife of the late Ernest O. Richard with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.

Born in New Bedford, Doris was the daughter of the late Edmont and Aurelie (Berube) Clermont. She grew up on Tobey Street in New Bedford and loved to swim in nearby Sassaquin Pond. Later she enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, TV Westerns and the company of her loving family.

She is survived by two sons: Paul Richard and his wife Helen of New Bedford and Conrad Richard and his wife Sarah of Fall River; a sister Rita Gendron and her husband Roland of New Bedford, a brother Roger J. Clermont of East Freetown; four grandchildren: David Richard, Jeffrey Richard and his wife Stephanie, James Richard and his wife Stephanie and Lisa Medeiros and her husband Mark; five great grandchildren, Tara Valente, Paige Medeiros, Jeffrey Richard, Jr., Cameron Richard and Logan Richard; one great-great grandchild Benjamin Valente and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Gerard E. Richard and the sister of the late Edmond J. Clermont II, Omer J. Clermont, Napoleon Clermont and Donat Clermont.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Dartmouth Village and Compassionate Care Hospice for their care of our mother.

Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 9,2016 at 8:30AM at the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30AM at St Joseph-St Therese Church, Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford.
