

Edward A. Forand, 89, of Rochester, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Tobey Hospital unexpectedly. He was the husband of the late Claire T. (Rochefort) Forand with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Louie P. and Mary (Smith) Forand, he had resided in Rochester since 1978.
In 1975, he had received an Associate’s Degree from Bristol Community College.
He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge.
Mr. Forand had a successful career as a Police Officer in the New Bedford Police Department for 36 years, retiring as Lieutenant in 1990.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and playing cards, especially cribbage.
His family includes a daughter, Nancy Nowak and husband Richard; a son, Steven Forand and wife Michelle; three sisters, Ann Fowler and husband Raymond, Loretta Galipeau and Dorothy Lowney; four grandchildren, Rebecca Fortier and husband Michael, Matthew Forand and wife Crystal, Jennifer Longo and husband Craig and Krystle Nowak; seven great-grandchildren, Aiden, Abigail, Andrew, Evan, Sophia, Jack and Madison; and many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Louis Forand, Jr.
His Funeral will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 9AM from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 10AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 282 Vaughan Hill Rd., Rochester. Visiting hours Friday 5-8PM. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
