

She attended New Bedford Vocational High School with a focus on home economics.
While working as a seamstress for over 40 years, she also enjoyed knitting, quilting, doll making and other handicrafts in her free time.
Elinor lived an active life and was always busy doing something she enjoyed. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Freetown VFW Post 6643. She enjoyed marching in the local parades with her ladies. She was the much-loved Mrs. Claus at the VFW children’s Christmas parties, giving so much joy. She belonged to The Royal Travelers Club attending plays and shows and her trips to Foxwoods. In her later years she enjoyed line dancing and playing dominoes at the Acushnet Senior Center. Elinor also volunteered at the Oaks Nursing and Rehab Center.
She is survived by her loving children, Diane Lagasse and husband Ron of Rochester, Ma, Denise Bosse and husband Raymond of Westport, MA and Michael Lariviere and his wife Jacqueline of Bradenton, Fl., grandchildren Kevin and Allyson Lagasse and great-grandchildren Jared DaCosta Lagasse and Layne Lagasse. They will remember her as a fun-loving grandmother who made them laugh.
Elinor loved her dogs Casey and later Molly. They were always an incredible comfort to her providing unconditional love and companionship.
In lieu of flowers her family asks that you make contributions in remembrance of Mrs. Lariviere, payable to the Fairhaven Animal Shelter, 200 Bridge Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719 or to a charity of your choice.
Elinor’s memorial service will be held on March 13, 2020 at 11:00AM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation prior from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
