Eugene J. Bertrand, Jr.

Born in New Bedford, Eugene was the son of Lina A. (Laliberte) Bertrand of Acushnet and the late Eugene J. Bertrand. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School and earned an Associates Degree from Bristol Community College.

Eugene was a well-known Horticulturalist with Allen C. Haskell and Horticulturalists on Shawmut Ave. in New Bedford for over 30 years. Most recently he would consult and perform caretaking services for several families in the South Coast Area.

Eugene was a member of The Trustees of Reservations, the MA Horticultural Society and the Rotch-Jones-Duff Museum. He also enjoyed gardening around his own home and cooking.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Gregory P. Bertrand of East Falmouth; three sisters, Rachel A. Murphy of Marion, Rosalyn J. Sharpe of Mt. Airy, NC and Carolyn B. McGuire of Salem, MA; three nieces and one nephew. He was also the brother of the late Robert D. Bertrand.

His Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 4 to 6PM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial services will be private.
