

Frances C. Bielawa, aged 81, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at home. Born on February 20, 1944, in New Bedford, Frances was a lifelong resident of her beloved city. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michal and Stella (Siwik) Kurowski, who hailed from Poland. Frances graduated from New Bedford High School.
Frances built a distinguished career at Commonwealth Electric, where she began working on the switchboard, advanced to meter reading, and ultimately retired as a customer service representative. Her work ethic and commitment to her profession were admired by all who knew her.
In her personal life, Frances was predeceased by her husband, Richard Bielawa, in 1988. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Bielawa, her granddaughter, Lauren Bielawa, her brother, Walter Kurowski, and his wife Beth, along with their son, Michael Kurowski, his wife Eileen, and their children, Timothy and Brian Kurowski and Olivia Martin. Additionally, Frances will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Katie, Alicia, and Michael Kurowski.
Frances was a vibrant and active member of her community, serving as President of the Garden Club of New Bedford. She enjoyed trips to the casinos, shopping at thrift stores, and dining out with friends. Known for her hospitality, Frances was a wonderful hostess who found joy in entertaining and was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones.
Frances C. Bielawa will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 3:00-6:00pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
