Genevieve T. Valk

Born in New Bedford she was the daughter of late Thomas Christopher Fernandes Sr. and the late Irene Marie (Joaquim) Fernandes.

Genevieve was a homemaker who cared and loved her children. She enjoyed Bingo, Foxwoods, travel, making people laugh, and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her daughter Brigitte Hill of Onset, a son William Bussiere of Kansas, six grandchildren: Corey Hill, Scott Bussiere, Kristin Fleisher, Stephen Bussiere, Ryan Bussiere, Casey Hill, 2 great grandchildren: Carson and Corbin Fleisher, five siblings: Thomas Fernandes, Lawrence Fernandes, Shirley Lawton, James Fernandes, Doreen Vieira all of New Bedford and her God Daughter, Kimberly Pettee of New Bedford. She was the Godmother of the late Anthony Cote.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 5-8pm in the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Her Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 121 Mt. Pleasant Street on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 9am.
