Hilda was the beloved wife of Normand Paquette, with whom she shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. She was the devoted daughter of the late John and Marianna (Sylvia) Sylvia. A woman of deep faith, Hilda was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Dartmouth.
She was a graduate of New Bedford High School and, alongside her husband Normand, owned and operated Oxford Pharmacy in Fairhaven for many years until their retirement in 1998. Hilda took great pride in her work and the relationships she built within the community.
Hilda found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved cross-stitch, writing short stories, and cooking for those she loved. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family and friends, especially her beautiful grandchildren, whom she adored and cherished.
In addition to her loving husband, Normand, she is survived by her children, Marianne Boucher and her husband Michael of Dartmouth, and Matthew Paquette and his wife Cheryl of Florida; her grandchildren, Bradford and Marina Paquette and Brittany Boucher; several nieces and nephews; her former daughter-in-law, Mary Paquette; and her very dear friend of many years, Patricia Perry of New Bedford.
She was the sister of the late Mary S. Barros, Julia Cabral, and John Sylvia.
Her visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 8:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 795 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth.
