

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Edward and Premilia (Bastarache) Bergeron. He was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Bergeron was a WWII Veteran having joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 17. He served on the Liberty Ship “S.S. Tristram Dalton” and he later went on to serve in the Army. He studied at the former Southeastern Massachusetts Technology Institute and worked as a CNC Operator for Borg Warner for over 28 years.
Homer and his wife enjoyed country western dancing for 66 years. He was an Red Sox and Patriots fan. Favorite pastimes included roller skating since a teenager, bowling and playing horseshoes. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Steven A. Bergeron and his wife Barbara of Acushnet, Linda L. Lapre of Rochester, and Robert H. Bergeron and his companion Julie of Acushnet; A Sister in Law, Kathleen Barnard and her Husband John. Seven grandchildren; Ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Homer was pre-deceased by his brothers Ernest and Leo Bergeron and his sister Rita Landry. He was the father of the late PFC. Ricky E. Bergeron, USMC and father-in-law of the late Richard Lapre.
His memorial visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2016 5-7 pm in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 10:30 am in Acushnet Cemetery, Main St., Acushnet.
