Joel Paul Medeiros

Joel Paul Medeiros, 61, passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, Papa, son and friend. He was born to Alvin Medeiros and the late Janet (DesJardins) Medeiros. A resident of Dartmouth, Massachusetts, he was a passionate musician and an honored US Navy Veteran.

Joel was a talented cabinet maker who loved his trade and delivering happiness to his clients. He enjoyed playing guitar, traveling to his special place, Aruba, and spending time with his children and grandchildren, teaching them by example how to work hard, play hard and love hard.

Joel was blessed with a large and adoring family. Marrying his high school sweetheart and forever soulmate, Cheryl (Nunes) Medeiros, in 1979, the two built a loving life filled with laughter and friendships, always side by side. If it was a warm summer night, chances were you could spot Joel singing by a campfire or cruising to Newport, Cheryl by his side, top down in his cherry red Mustang.

He was a cherished father to his three daughters, Jessica Miller and husband Reid, Nicole Barry and Ashley Senra and her husband Richard, and 10 grandchildren, Maiya, Olivia, Lily, Kai, Aiden, Arlo, Aurora, Joel, Zoe and Baby Senra who are grateful for each day he filled their lives with love, patience and music.

Also survived by his five siblings, Nancy Pequita and her husband David, Ernest Medeiros and his wife Joanne Ricci, Susan Turgeon and her husband Brian, David Medeiros and significant other Kathy Roessle, and William Medeiros and his wife Dawn as well as many other family members and friends.

Joel leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity and a contagious smile that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation to be held on Friday, May 13th at Rock Funeral Home 1285 Ashley Blvd, in New Bedford, MA from 10am until 12 noon followed by a funeral home service at 12pm. Burial in Assonet Burial Grounds.
