

Born in Dartmouth, Ma, the only son of John T. Sr. and Lena (Sarro) Fielding. He was a long time resident of New Bedford.
A veteran of the United States Army, he proudly served during the Vietnam War. A graduate of SMTI-Southeastern Massachusetts University, he earned his Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Master's degree from the University of Rhode Island in Public Administration. One of his proudest achievements was earning his Doctor of Philosophy from Salve Regina University. Never losing his sense of humor, he loved teasing his healthcare providers about how his thesis was in medical ethics.
His professional career as a professor of continuing education spanned over 45 plus years at various higher educational institutions such as University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, Cape Cod Community College and Roger Williams University. He retired in 2019 as the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs Emeritus at Mount Wachusett Community College.
An avid reader he shared his passion for knowledge and constant curiosity with his family and his students. A long time loyal New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, he enjoyed watching the games with his family or listening to them as he enjoyed working around the house. He loved spending time with his family in his own backyard or taking rides , chasing new adventures that often ended up trying new places to eat. He enjoyed traveling with his family which led him to explore the country and the world. Two of his favorite places included Hawaii and Italy. He planned to bring his family back to both places after he retired. A proud grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Mikayla teaching her frisbee and baseball. They often spend time together sharing their favorite songs and music. A loving husband and father, a dedicated family man, always caring for "his girls." He worked tirelessly to provide for his family. A devout Catholic, he spent each day enjoying quiet time reflecting in prayer, reciting the rosary or simply reading the Bible.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Joan A.F. Yousif and her husband Steven J. Yousif of Fairhaven and his granddaughter, Mikayla A, Yousif.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 9:00 AM from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Boulevard, New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass AT 10:00 AM in St. Lawrence Martyr Church, 565 County Street, New Bedford.
